Run the wire or cable to its destination. Bend the lone wire through the loop end of the fish tape and twist it so it won t be pulled off. Pull the wiring through the wall by reeling in the fish tape bringing it out through the hole for the electrical box. Then tightly wrap the electrical wire cable with electrical tape from the point that it is connected to the fish tape to just past where the other wires are bent.

Strip about 6 inches of outer sheathing from one end of the cable then hook the conducting wires and bare copper grounding wire through the loop at the end of the fish tape blade. Now you should be ready to fish the wire. Carefully extend the fish tape from one opening to the other. From the basement or attic push the wire fish tape through the hole you have drilled.

Attach the wiring in the 3 by 5 inch hole to the end of the fish tape. Attach the wire or cable to a fish tape or coat hanger using electrical tape and feed it into the hole until it reaches the opening at the other end. Even though cables are insulated the high voltage current can interfere with the signal in the low voltage wires. Tape the end of the fish tape tightly onto the cable with electrical tape.
