Position the first tile or sheet of mosaic tiles into place on the wall at the center point of the layout.

Prepare the tiles before mixing the grout.
Remove the tile and prepare the wall according to the corresponding instructions above or tile over the existing tile.
Step 1 prepare the wall.
Remove any tile spacers left from the tile installation using needlenose pliers.
Repair any loose or cracked tiles.
To see where the tile will end at the top of the installation make a jury stick.
To do so make sure all of the tiles are intact and secure.
Next lock firmly the tile into position as you will use the grinder.
Follow the lines you made when the tiles were dry fit to the wall.
Then use a level to extend the line along the work area.
Be sure to put spacers between each tile as you go.
Clean the joints of any loose materials or adhesive that might interfere with the grout s ability to seal against the tile.
Mark the wall at the top of the tile.
As you press the adhesive will be flattened out.
Place the mosaic sheets along the wall.
Use long sweeping motions to apply mortar to the wall and start placing your tiles in the marked locations.
Align it carefully with the horizontal and vertical layout lines.
Hold a tile at this spot accounting for a 1 8 inch expansion gap.
Press it firmly into the adhesive.
Wash the wall with tsp tri sodium phosphate or an ammonia based cleaner to remove any grease or oil.
This line serves as your cutting guide to fit tile along the counter.
If existing tiles are beyond repair remove the tile and install a piece of wallboard in its place.
Add tile spacers for help keeping the tile pieces lined up.
Make sure the face of the tile is free of adhesive and other contaminants.
Flatten the tile with a grout float if necessary.
To install ceramic wall tile use a level and measuring tape to mark the tile locations on the wall with chalk.
Slightly rock the sheet up and down perpendicular to the trowel lines to collapse the ridges and help the tile settle into place.
Consequently mark the section of the tile you want to cut out using a carpentry pencil.
